Letters of Credence Ceremony

Governor General Mary Simon welcomed five new heads of mission to Canada during a ceremony at Rideau Hall.

The following new heads of mission presented their credentials to the Governor General:

His Excellency Abdulrahman Ali Almur Ali Alneyadi
Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates

His Excellency Tewodros Girma Abebe
Ambassador of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia

Her Excellency Carolyne Kamende Daudi
High Commissioner for the Republic of Kenya

His Excellency Jean Claude Kugener
Ambassador of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg

His Excellency Alexis Bengone
High Commissioner for the Gabonese Republic

Upon their arrival in Canada, new heads of mission must present their letters of credence to the governor general before they can carry out their duties. Letters of credence are the official documents that accredit a diplomat as an ambassador or high commissioner to another country.
