On behalf of Her Excellency the Right Honourable Mary Simon, Governor General of Canada, Justice Karakatsanis, Deputy to the Governor General of Canada, hosted a series of events on January 30, 2024, as part of the State visit of Her Excellency Zuzana Čaputová, President of the Slovak Republic, and Mr. Juraj Rizman.
Justice Karakatsanis greeted President Čaputová and Mr. Rizman upon their arrival at Rideau Hall. Justice Karakatsanis and President Čaputová delivered remarks and inspected a guard of honour.
After their arrvial, President Čaputová and Mr. Rizman participated in a tree-planting ceremony, a Canadian tradition symbolizing friendship and co-operation between nations.
In the evening, Justice Karakatsanis hosted a State dinner for President Čaputová and Mr. Rizman, as well as Canadian and Slovak dignitaries. Justice Karakatsanis, President Čaputová and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will delivered remarks.
