Her Excellency the Right Honourable Mary Simon, Governor General of Canada, presented Canada’s top architecture and landscape architecture honours to outstanding Canadians during a ceremony at Rideau Hall.
The Governor General’s Medals in Architecture and Landscape Architecture recognize impressive projects, and individuals from across the country. The 13 projects range from the Indian Residential School History and Dialogue Centre in Vancouver, to a storm water facility in Toronto, to a pavilion in the Assemblée nationale du Québec, to name a few. Another winner, The Idea Exchange, is an 1885 post office that has been converted into open studio spaces for people of all ages.
The 2022 Governor General’s Medal in Landscape Architecture, in turn, recognizes the exceptional achievements of Professor Ronald F. Williams, who has had a significant national impact on the field.
