OTTAWA, Ontario—Her Excellency the Right Honourable Mary Simon, Governor General of Canada, will host a special honours ceremony at Rideau Hall that will focus on mental health. This special ceremony will take place during Mental Health Week, which runs from May 6 to 12, 2024.
The individuals to be honoured have made significant contributions to improving the mental or physical health of their fellow Canadians or have advanced global health initiatives. Through their groundbreaking work, these individuals have deepened our understanding of the links between physical and mental health or have helped to combat the stigmatization of those facing mental health challenges.
During this ceremony:
- 7 Officers (O.C.) and 25 Members (C.M.) will be invested into the Order of Canada.
- 5 Meritorious Service Crosses (M.S.C.) and 35 Meritorious Service Medals (M.S.M.) will be presented as part of the Meritorious Service Decorations (Civil Division).
- 1 Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers will be presented.
