Governor General will participate in the unveiling of a badge granted to the Rainbow Veterans of Canada

OTTAWA, Ontario—Her Excellency the Right Honourable Mary Simon, Governor General of Canada, will participate in the unveiling of a heraldic badge granted to the Rainbow Veterans of Canada (RVC) by the Canadian Heraldic Authority.

The Governor General will attend both as head of the Canadian Heraldic Authority and as commander-in-chief. In this latter role, she will recognize the contributions of Canadian Armed Forces veterans.

A badge is a type of heraldic emblem. It is an honour conferred in recognition of service to the community. It was granted to the Rainbow Veterans of Canada in December 2023.

About the Rainbow Veterans of Canada (RVC)
The Rainbow Veterans of Canada is a non-profit organization that was incorporated in 2019. They represent Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) veterans impacted by the LGBT Purge and veterans who identify as members of the 2SLGBTQI+ community. The RVC provides members with a safe space and provides education and advocacy for their rights, benefits and recognition.
