OTTAWA, Ontario—Their Excellencies the Right Honourable Mary Simon, Governor General of Canada, and Mr. Whit Fraser will visit Prince Edward Island’s North Shore on Sunday, October 30, 2022, to observe first-hand the damage and devastation caused by Hurricane Fiona.
During this visit, Their Excellencies will meet with residents, business owners, fishers and tourism operators to hear how Hurricane Fiona has affected their lives and livelihoods. In addition, Their Excellencies will have an opportunity to thank first responders and volunteers who have stepped up to the challenges of the last month to support their communities.

Their Excellencies will meet with Mr. Robert and Mrs. Pamela Shaw, the owners of Shaw's Hotel and Cottages, which was severely damaged by the hurricane, to understand how the storm has impacted the local tourism industry.

Visit to Brackley Beach, PEI National Park
Their Excellencies will visit Brackley Beach in PEI National Park, and stop at Covehead Wharf and Lighthouse, where they will meet with fishers who will explain the effects the storm has had on their respective industries.

Their Excellencies will meet with first responders and warming centre volunteers to thank them for all their efforts as the community continues to clean up and recover from Hurricane Fiona.
