Governor General's Caring Canadian Award
Rachel Craft Dempsey has shown remarkable initiative in creating opportunities to help others. As a grade-nine student, she co-founded a highly successful UNICEF Club and organized annual fundraising competitions within her school and with several other local high schools. She organized an annual starvathon and developed presentations on UNICEF's activities. In addition, Ms. Dempsey has been an active member of Amnesty International, the local Caring Cupboard, and the United Nations Club. Ms. Dempsey's dedication has inspired her community to carry on her work, and many of her high school initiatives have continued to thrive after her graduation.
