Bert Daynard has been volunteering in the Nelson community for most of his life. He has been particularly involved with two local extended-care hospitals, regularly visiting the residents, bringing them flowers from his garden, and helping out at fundraising events by selling raffle tickets and contributing homemade jams and jellies. He has driven many people to appointments, not uncommonly travelling to towns 100 km away, and is always willing to help someone in need, performing many acts of charity and kindness.
