Philippe Comeau, Church Point, Nova Scotia
Governor General's Caring Canadian Award
A tireless volunteer, Philippe Comeau has spent 30 years helping the less fortunate. People with terminal cancer and the elderly in his community are particularly near and dear to Mr. Comeau's heart. Although he is president, secretary and treasurer of both the Clare Cancer Unit and the Seniors' council for Digby County, Mr. Comeau's involvement does not end there; he also visits patients and the elderly, bringing them communion or taking them to run their errands. In addition, he has helped to organize the "Festival Acadien de Clare" for 47 years. To his friends and his community, Mr. Comeau exemplifies what volunteer work and generosity truly are.
