Joyce Strevel, Sarnia, Ontario
Governor General's Caring Canadian Award

Since 1963, Joyce Strevel has been a much-appreciated volunteer at Sarnia General Hospital, helping most recently in the palliative care, ultrasound and cardiac care units. Her active and cheerful service to her community has not stopped there -- over the past four decades she has been a member of the St. John Ambulance Brigade and a Red Cross volunteer. She has also been a driver for people with visual impairments, has been involved with the Meals-on-Wheels, Neighbourhood Watch and Block Parents programs, and is active in her church.
