    Throughout his career, and even more since his retirement, Nelson Allan has been active in numerous community organizations. Among other activities, he organized the local "Disabled and Aged Transit System" (DARTS) and helped establish an award-winning day care centre at his church. For six years, Mr. Allan also devoted himself as full-time unpaid Executive Director of the St. Joseph's Hospital Foundation.
