Governor General's Caring Canadian Award
Douglas Warren's volunteer accomplishments constitute a remarkable array of deeds in the service of his community. He helped establish a Coast Guard Auxiliary, a group which has saved numerous lives, and is a strong volunteer supporter of the Air Cadet League. Mr. Warren works diligently as a Veteran's Outreach speaker at local schools, and is involved with the Comox Valley United Way. For the past 29 years, he has delivered meals for the Meals on Wheels program in his community. As a lay minister, he has visited patients in hospital, providing counselling and conducting funerals for the Royal Canadian Legion, the Air Force Association of Canada and the Korean Veterans Association.
