His contributions to province and country have been far-reaching. He has served as mayor of the city of Saskatoon, was an effective health care administrator for Saskatchewan, and was involved in land claims negotiations between the federal and provincial governments and Aboriginal communities. As Treaty Land Commissioner, he made recommendations that were adopted by all parties, and facilitated the amicable settlement of 120-year-old treaties. In addition, his emphasis on improving the quality of life for all members of the community and his constant support of heritage groups have had a lasting effect.
