He has contributed to both his country and his home province as a physician, a member of the Legislative Assembly and an author. Co-founder of the O'Leary Medical Clinic, he was also responsible for the merging of two educational institutions to form the University of Prince Edward Island. In addition, he is the author of many publications including an award-winning, popular medical article.
