Believing that "to educate is to find a profound solution for the problems of the country", the founder of the first mission of a Canadian religious order in Latin America soon established the famous Collegio Santa Cruz in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Under his leadership it has become one of the most respected institutions in Brazil and has served as a model for new state-run schools which have modernized education in a state in transition from an agricultural to a heavily industrialized society.
