Throughout her distinguished public service career, she has enhanced Canada's international reputation as a country committed to helping nations in need. Whether as deputy executive director of UNICEF or president of the Canadian International Development Agency, she helped shape and strengthen government aid policies and strategies. A former deputy minister of Health and Welfare Canada, she later served as president of the Population Council in New York. Known for her commitment, notably in the areas of health care, agricultural development and water governance, she has held leadership positions with numerous international, public and private organizations.
