A leading spokesman for Chinese Canadians, he has for many years worked with various organizations to promote understanding among Canadians of various diverse cultural origins. He has also served as a volunteer interpreter for the Canadian Citizenship Court. In 1980, he was given the City of Vancouver Heritage Recognition Award.
