A progressive Essex dairy farmer, he is a member of a variety of agricultural associations and a founding member of the Ontario Agricultural Hall of Fame. A founder of the Woodslee Credit Union, he was a pioneer in the Co-operative movement at the provincial level, serving as President of the Co-operative Union of Ontario and now as Director and Honorary Member of the Ontario Co-operative Development Association.
