For nearly 50 years, Madeleine Delaney-LeBlanc has been advocating for women’s rights. She played a key role in seeing gender equality entrenched in the Canadian Constitution. As founding chair of New Brunswick’s Advisory Council
on the Status of Women, she has devoted herself to improving the status of women in terms of equality, financial autonomy and social respect. Condemning violence against women, she helped to establish shelters for victims. This champion of social
justice continues to volunteer with numerous groups in her community.
