Chief Warrant Officer Copeland served as sergeant major of NATO’s enhanced Forward Presence Battle Group in Latvia from July 2018 to January 2019. His determination and rallying skills kept troop morale high and played a significant role in creating and preparing for combat a team of non-commissioned officers from several countries with differing points of view. His initiative inspired other countries to continue developing their non-commissioned officer corps and contributed to the success of the Canadian presence in Latvia.
