Mrs. Demetelin has devoted her time and effort to encouraging solidarity within the Greek/Canadian community and promoting social justice for women. Since its inception in 1991, she has been actively involved with Le Bouclier d'Athena/The Shield of Athena, a grass-roots organization which provides counseling and support services to the Greek and other communities, primarily to women and children who are victims of domestic violence. Mrs. Demetelin dedicates countless hours to organizing seminars, fund-raising and, most of all, providing support to battered women.
