On July 14, 2014, Corporal Ryan Folkes and Corporal Michel Westelaken rescued a woman from her burning truck near Badger, Newfoundland and Labrador. The rescuers came across the victim’s truck on its side in the ditch, with the woman trapped inside. Despite the fire, they reached into the truck to free the victim and, with the help of bystanders, lifted her out onto a makeshift stretcher and brought her to safety.
