On July 2, 1995, in Aylmer, Quebec, Mr. Demers, an off-duty firefighter, rescued a three-year-old boy from the path of an oncoming car. He saw the child suddenly start to run towards an intersection and yelled at him to stop, but the little boy kept on running. Mr. Demers, barefooted, ran after him and caught up to him in the middle of the street, just as a car was speeding towards them. He grabbed the child by the arm and threw him towards the curb, while the vehicle swerved to avoid them. Luckily, no one was injured.
