On December 20, 1993, Mr. Desrosiers risked his life attempting to save a man from a burning house in Ste-Jeanne-d'Arc, Quebec. Mr. Desrosiers noticed a fire inside his friend's house and saw smoke coming out around the doors. Since the entrance was locked, Mr. Desrosiers went to call the fire department and then returned to the house. He broke a window, injuring his hands and wrists, and entered the residence in spite of thick smoke and intense heat. He heard the victim's moans, but seeing nothing, had to grope around. Mr. Desrosiers finally found his friend in the kitchen and dragged him outside, where the victim lost consciousness. Unfortunately, his friend died a few days later.
