Argent two bendlets engrailed Sable between in chief a lion passant guardant Gules armed and langued Sable and gorged with a wreath Or and Sable and in base a Saracen's head affronty erased proper wreathed Or and Sable on a canton Sable an anchor Or all within a bordure compony Or and Sable;

Symbolism

Mr. Petley-Jones’ arms are based on the arms of his father, Commander Evan Petley-Jones, differenced with a border alternating gold and black. The arms of Commander Evan Petley-Jones were taken from the arms of his two great-grandfathers, Sir Charles Thomas Jones, Kt., of Montgomery, Powis, Wales, and Charles Carter Petley, Esq., of Riverhead, Kent, England. The shield of the Petleys was differenced with the lion passant guardant and Saracen’s head to indicate Jones ancestry. The anchor in the canton is in reference to the Commander’s naval career.

Symbolism

The crest is based on the Petley arms. The arm in armour, garnished with a snowflake and grasping a scimitar, symbolizes the family’s military service in Canada since the middle of the 18th century.
