Arms of Richard James GoebelBlazonPer chevron Or and Sable, on a pale counterchanged a badger’s face in chief Or; SymbolismMr. Goebel has long used gold and black as colours for his personal emblems. The vertical divisions of the shield allude to columns in an account ledger, recalling his work as finance officer for a travel agency, and as treasurer for the Calgary Highlanders Regimental Funds Foundation and for church councils. The chevron division forms a roof and symbolizes a palliative care centre, and thus his volunteer work in that field as a member of the Order of Saint Lazarus Canada. The badger’s head refers to the badger sporran which is part of his uniform as a lieutenant-colonel of the Calgary Highlanders, thus indicating his military service. |
CrestBlazonA pair of wings addorsed Or charged with a steering wheel Sable; SymbolismThe wings represent travelling and Mr. Goebel’s career in the travel agency industry. The steering wheel embodies the leadership Mr. Goebel has shown in his work, community contributions and service with the Canadian Armed Forces. As it represents the steering wheel of a land vehicle, it recalls his service in infantry regiments and during United Nations missions abroad. |
