The chevronels in the V-shape allude to his surname of Vicente, and evoke the front of an academic hood. Their number represents his three children, of whom two are twins. The cross recalls the national Portuguese symbol of a cross and appears here as a tribute to his parents who emigrated from Portugal to Canada. |
