The battle honours indicate the military engagements in which the RCMP took part. The badge of Canadian Provost Corps of the Canadian Army, a military policing unit composed of members of the RCMP, represents its service during the Second World War. The Royal Cypher indicates that Her Majesty The Queen is Commissioner-in-Chief of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. The other discs show the abbreviation for the force’s name at various times in its history: NWMP for the North West Mounted Police (1873-1904), RNWMP for the Royal North West Mounted Police (1904-1920), and GRC RCMP for the Gendarmerie royale canadien / Royal Canadian Mounted Police since 1920. |
