Arms of David Edward George PickettBlazonPer chevron grady Vert and Argent in chief a lyre Argent between two Tudor roses proper and in base a cross couped pointed Gules; SymbolismThe green field evokes Archdeacon Pickett’s outdoor pursuits, with the jagged line symbolizing landscapes, as well as honouring his wife’s birth surname, Hill. The red cross of St. George alludes to his home village of St. George, Brant County, Ontario. The pointed arms of the cross, representing pickets, evoke his surname. The Tudor roses, representing his two children, symbolize Archdeacon Pickett’s research of the ancestry of his mother Dorothy Anne Bullen in the Tudor era of English history. The lyre connects to the motto and his outreach as a singer in the trio of Anglican priests “The Three Cantors”. The lyre is also an allusion to the name “David”, as it is associated with the biblical king David, who wrote many of the psalms. |
