The dolphin is white (heraldic Argent) to differentiate the pennant of the Auxiliary fleet from the pennant of the main fleet, whose corresponding element is yellow (heraldic Or). |
Badge for the use of the Canadian Coast Guard AuxiliaryBlazonOn an oval per pale Argent and Azure dexter a maple leaf Gules sinister two dolphins naiant in pale the lower one contourné, all within a rope knotted at the base Argent, ensigned by the Royal Crown Argent jewelled proper capped Gules; SymbolismThis emblem combines the red and white colours of Canada with the blue of waterways. The maple leaf evokes Canada and the dolphins represent the ships that ply the coasts of Canada. As well, dolphins are regarded as ancient talismans and helpers of all mariners. The crown represents service to the Sovereign. The dolphins, rope and Royal crown are white (heraldic Argent) to differentiate the emblems of the Auxiliary fleet from those of the main fleet, whose corresponding elements are yellow (heraldic Or). |
