Presentation of Military Decorations at the Citadelle in Quebec City

Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean, Governor General and Commander-in-Chief of Canada, presented the Meritorious Service Cross (M.S.C) to Brigadier-General Joseph René Marcel Guy Laroche, O.M.M., M.S.C., C.D.

Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean, Governor General and Commander-in-Chief of Canada, presented a posthumous Meritorious Service Cross (Military Division) to Madame Ardouin, widow of the late Master Warrant Officer Joseph Christian Michel Mario Mercier, M.S.C., C.D.

Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean, Governor General and Commander-in-Chief of Canada, presented the Meritorious Service Medal (Military Division) to Corporal Julie Marie Micheline Alain, M.S.M.

Behind all of these acts of exceptional bravery, behind this exemplary meritorious service, there is an ultimate sacrifice. And as a woman, as a mother, as commander-in-chief, I cannot help but think of the cost and breadth of your sacrifice. Or that of your families, who love you and must support you, come what may.

Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean, Governor General and Commander-in-Chief of Canada, will present Military Valour Decorations and Meritorious Service Decorations (Military Division) to members of the Canadian Forces, at the Citadelle, the official residence of the Governor General in Quebec City, on June 27, 2008.
