Blazon

The Shield of Arms of the Regional Municipality of Waterloo within an annulus Or fimbriated and inscribed in letters Azure PEACE PROSPERITY all within a wreath of maple leaves also Or issuant from a trillium flower proper the whole resting upon a scroll Or fimbriated and inscribed WATERLOO REGIONAL POLICE in letters Azure and ensigned with a representation of the Royal Crown proper;

Symbolism

The shield incorporates the arms of the original County of Waterloo, which was the basis of the arms granted to the Region of Waterloo. The lamb and lion refer to tolerance and neighbourliness, seen as essential ingredients for a harmonious community. The distribution of the seven flowers represents the three cities and four townships forming the Region. The Royal Crown represents the protection of the peace on behalf of the crown. The flower at the base is the provincial flower, the trillium, is appropriate to this police force, and the frame of maple leaves is for Canada.
