Badge of the 22 Radar Control WingBlazonBleu Céleste the aurora borealis Or, overall two rocs’ heads erased, addorsed and conjoined Azure; SymbolismThe roc, a fierce and gigantic mythological bird, symbolizes the wing’s role of protecting the vastness of Canada’s sovereign airspace. It creates also a visual pun to the function of radar operations control (or ROC), provided by the unit. The aurora borealis is indicative of the wing’s northern emphasis and the North Warning System. |
MottoBlazonCOMPAGNONS DE LA PAIX; SymbolismThe Motto, meaning “Partners in peace”, alludes to the partnership between Canadian and United States Armed Forces personnel within the unit, which functioned under the North American Aerospace Defence Command (NORAD). |
