The Governor General hosted a conversation with Dr. Barbara Sherwood Lollar, a professor of earth sciences at the University of Toronto.
Their discussion, entitled “Reimagining the World: a conversation about curiosity with Dr. Barbara Sherwood Lollar,” focused on curiosity and where it can lead us, as well as Dr. Sherwood Lollar’s extensive research on ancient water trapped in the Earth’s crust.
Along with her work as a professor at U of T, Dr. Sherwood Lollar is also co‑director of the Earth 4D: Subsurface Science and Exploration program at the Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (CIFAR). She has studied ancient waters around the world. In 2019, she was awarded the Gerhard-Herzberg Canada Gold Medal for Science and Engineering, the highest scientific award in the country.
