Visitor Centre

Note: Hours of operation: The Visitor Centre will be open daily during the summer season between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Please note that operational requirements may affect opening hours and that staff members may be reachable on the grounds closer to the residence of Rideau Hall.

Start your visit at this charming interpretation centre located at the Thomas Street entrance gate. This heritage building was once the Gardener’s Cottage at the time of Canada’s Confederation. Today, it offers an exhibition about the history of Rideau Hall and the role of the governor general. This is also where we offer some activities for children, including a nearby play structure, and where you will find several picnic tables.

Free Wi-Fi is also available.
