Follow the activities of the Governor General in Canada and abroad.

This list is not exhaustive.

Each year the Governor General participates in numerous activities and engagements that do not appear on our website. Such activities can include meetings involving heads of diplomatic mission, senior public servants, military officials, elected officials, representatives of organizations, viceregal representatives and more. Disclosure of the Governor General’s activities and events is provided on a yearly basis through the publication of annual reports by the Office of the Secretary to the Governor General.

You can search for a specific event by keyword or narrow your results by using quotation marks to search for an exact title (e.g. “Speech from the Throne”). You can also use the filters to specify the type of document you are looking for, the date of the event, etc. Note that special characters such as commas and symbols are not accepted.

    Administrator welcomes new heads of mission to Canada

    His Excellency the Right Honourable Richard Wagner, P.C., Administrator of the Government of Canada, welcomed one new high commissioner and four new ambassadors to Canada during a virtual ceremony.

    Royal Assent Ceremony

    The Administrator of the Government of Canada granted Royal Assent by written declaration for several Bills and Acts.

    Unveiling of New Heraldic Emblems for the Supreme Court of Canada

    The recently created emblems of the Supreme Court of Canada were unveiled by the Chief Herald of Canada, Dr. Samy Khalid, at a small ceremony in the presence of the Right Honourable Richard Wagner, Chief Justice of Canada, and Ms. Chantal Carbonneau, the Court’s Registrar Designate.

  • Swearing-in of H.E. the Rt. Hon. Richard Wagner

    Chief Justice of Canada Richard Wagner was sworn in as the administrator of the Government of Canada.

  • Change of Command of the Canadian Armed Forces

    The Governor General and Commander-in-Chief of Canada presided over the virtual Change of Command of the Canadian Armed Forces ceremony which saw command transfer from General Jonathan Vance to Vice-Admiral Art McDonald.
