Tinker Air Force Base is named in honour of Major General Clarence L. Tinker of Pawhuska, Oklahoma. Canadians have served alongside U.S. allies at Tinker Air Force Base since 1979.

He then visited an E-3 Sentry Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS) aircraft to see how the Canadian Armed Forces members from the 552nd Air Control Wing Canadian Detachment work closely with U.S. military personnel to fulfill the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) mission and to support AWACS operations worldwide.
