Savour Fall at Rideau Hall

The Governor General and visitors danced to the beat of the string quartet.

Their Excellencies the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, and Mrs. Sharon Johnston hosted the 4th edition of Savour Fall at Rideau Hall on September 10, 2016.

Rideau Hall partnered with various local chefs and culinary students to provide guests with delicious food samples at the event.

Their Excellencies visited the Apiculture Gatineau kiosk to discuss the ethical development of beekeeping in Gatineau and the surrounding areas. Apiculture Gatineau recognizes the importance of biodiversity, and through workshops and courses about beekeeping and honeymaking, strives to develop an appreciation of biodiversity among the general public.

Throughout the day, harvest and food enthusiasts were able to taste, under various tents, culinary creations by Louis Charest, Executive Chef at Rideau Hall, and his kitchen team, assisted by culinary students from Alquonquin College and La Cité collégiale.

Heralds from the Chancellery of Honours offered face painting. More children’s activities were also presented by the Canada Agriculture and Food Museum, the Ottawa and Children’s Garden with Let’s Talk Science.

The band DejaVu Acoustic was back again this year to entertain the crowds with their musical performances.

Mr. Pierre Lemire, a Commissionaire at Rideau Hall, played the drums and sang with his band.
