Canadian Educators Conference on Mental Health

Mr. Phil Upshall, National Executive Director of the Mood Disorders Society of Canada, was the MC for the event. Mr. Upshall co-chaired the 2016 Conference.

Her Excellency Sharon Johnston delivered remarks during the opening ceremonies of the Canadian Educators Conference on Mental Health.

"Our children are in the care of teachers for all their growing years. Teachers can be an integral part of the diagnosis, science and treatment of mental health. The learning and sharing of best practices today will result in a more sensitive environment for our children to grow to healthy adults."

Mr. Bill Gartland, Director of Education, Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario, who co-chaired the conference, also delivered remarks.

Organized by the Mood Disorders Society of Canada (MDSC), the Canadian Educators Conference on Mental Health is a two-day conference aimed at bringing together hundreds of educators and education leaders from across the country with the aim of providing tools, sharing experiences, understanding the latest research and building networks in the field of mental health education.
