Canada Army Run 2016

As patrons of Canada Army Run, Their Excellencies the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General and Commander-in-Chief of Canada, and Mrs. Sharon Johnston attended the event on September 18, 2016.

Their Excellencies then headed to Rideau Hall to root for the thousands of participants as they ran, walked or rolled by the grounds of the official residence located on Sussex Drive.

Canada Army Run is a unique running event in which Canadians can run, walk or roll side-by-side with members of the Canadian Armed Forces in half-marathon and five-kilometre events.

Their Excellencies presented the trophy to the woman who finished first in the five-kilometre run.

Their Excellencies presented the trophy to the winner of the Ill/Injured/Disabled five-kilometre run category.

Their Excellencies cheered on participants as they ran, walked or rolled in the streets of Ottawa.

Fundraising efforts and proceeds benefit Soldier On program and the Military Families Fund.

As Commander-in-Chief, His Excellency wished good luck to all participants competing in the five-kilometre and half-marathon races.

More than 20 000 participants invaded the streets of Ottawa for the five-kilometre and half-marathon races.

Their Excellencies spoke with Mike who did the Commander's Challenge, which consisted of competing in both the five- and twenty-one-kilometre races.
