Visit to Western Canada - Day 1
During her visit, she participated in a smudging ceremony and traditional talking circle with Grade 1 and 2 students and also had the opportunity to interact with staff and Elders.

The school is culturally based from an Aboriginal perspective and welcomes First Nations, Métis and Inuit students from Kindergarten to Grade 6. It offers language and cultural teachings such as drumming and dancing, and conducts traditional ceremonies.
Tue, 01/27/2015 - 12:00 Rideau Hall GG2015-0029-001Later in the afternoon, Her Excellency visited the Sheldon Kennedy Child Advocacy Centre, a not-for-profit organization that is committed to becoming a Centre of Excellence specializing in best practices, training, community awareness, education and research in the area of child abuse. During her tour of the facility, she was joined by Sheldon Kennedy, one of the Centre's board members.
