Remembrance Day Ceremony

Canadians gathered to thank our Canadian Armed Forces members, who sacrificed their lives in the name of freedom.

The national ceremony concluded with a March past.

Their Excellencies took the time to personally thank the veterans for their sacrifice.

On this day of morning, veterans stood up proudly at the foot of the National War Memorial.

On November 11, 2015, Their Excellencies the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General and Commander-in-Chief of Canada, and Mrs. Sharon Johnston attended the National Remembrance Day Ceremony at the National War Memorial, in Ottawa.

Prime Minister Trudeau and his spouse Mrs. Sophie Grégoire-Trudeau laid a wreath on behalf of the government of Canada.

2015 National Silver Cross Mother Mrs. Sheila Elizabeth Anderson laid a wreath on behalf of all Canadian mothers who have lost a son or a daughter at war.

Their Excellencies laid a wreath on behalf of the people of Canada.

During the ceremony, spectators witnessed a fly past.

As he stepped on the dias, the Governor General received the Royal Salute

The Governor General was greeted by the Right Honourable Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister of Canada.

Upon her arrival at the National War Memorial, 2015 National Silver Cross Mother Mrs. Sheila Elizabeth Anderson was greeted by the Chief of the Defence Staff General Jonathan Vance. Her son Corporal Jordan James Anderson was killed by an improvised explosive device, on July 4, 2007, in Afghanistan.

Some 35 000 people attended the ceremony that was held in downtown Ottawa.
