Presentation of Letters of Credence

The new ambassadors joined the Governor General for a group photo.

The Governor General received the letters of credence of six new heads of mission during a ceremony at Rideau Hall. His Excellency Jo Dae-shik, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea, was first to present his letters.

"During your tenures, all of you will contribute to our strong diplomatic community, while at the same time finding ways to bolster our ties," said the Governor General.

Upon their arrival in Canada, and before they can carry out their duties as heads of mission, new ambassadors, as well as new high commissioners of countries for which Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II is not head of State, must be officially welcomed by the governor general of Canada.

The Governor General then received the letter of credence of His Excellency Wilmer Omar Barrientos Fernández, Ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.

His Excellency Edgar Augusto Brandão Gaspar Martins, Ambassador of the Republic of Angola, also presented his letters of credence.

His Excellency Julio César Arriola Ramírez, Ambassador of the Republic of Paraguay, also presented his letters of credence.

His Excellency Ousmane Paye, Ambassador of the Republic of Senegal, also presented his letters of credence.

Her Excellency Kunzang C. Namgyel, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bhutan, also presented her letters of credence.
