Economic Club of Canada

His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, delivered an address to members of The Economic Club of Canada on June 9, 2015, in Ottawa.

He then participated in a question period with the audience. Since 2003, The Economic Club of Canada has brought its members and guests face-to-face with the most important, relevant and influential leaders of our time. It has grown in stature and reputation to become the most respected and influential platform of its kind. Each year, more than 200 key policy-makers and business leaders seek out The Economic Club of Canada to make major keynote addresses.

In his speech entitled Towards an Innovation Nation: Inspiring a culture of creativity and forward thinking for a better Canada, His Excellency took the opportunity to announce the creation of the Governor General's Innovation Awards that will recognize and celebrate outstanding Canadian individuals, teams and organizations —those trailblazers and creators who contribute to our country’s success and who help shape our future.
