Caring Canadian Award Presentation in Toronto

Created in 1995, the Governor General’s Caring Canadian Award recognizes living Canadians and permanent residents who have made a significant, sustained, unpaid contribution to their community, in Canada or abroad.

Her Honour the Honourable Elizabeth Dowdeswell, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario delivered remarks at a ceremony for the Governor General’s Caring Canadian Award.

"What unites your efforts is the impulse to give back, to share, to roll up your sleeves and help others.The Caring Canadian Award is presented as a token of gratitude for your dedication to good and worthy causes," said His Excellency.

Bayley Ryan Abrams from Thornhill, Ontario received the Caring Canadian Award for her work as a volunteer with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada since the age of five.

Kathy Bodnar from Toronto, Ontario received the Caring Canadian Award for her work as a youth mentor with The Peer Project, where she has served as a positive role model for her young mentee.

Mario Guilombo from Toronto, Ontario received the Caring Canadian Award for his work as a lawyer and lifelong defender of human rights.

Kenneth Wright from London, Ontario received the Caring Canadian Award for his work as the founder and director of the Dental Outreach Community Service (DOCS), Dr. Kenneth Wright has provided free dental care to hundreds of low-income families in London, Ontario, since 2008.
