Academic All-Canadian Commendation

His Excellency presented the Governor General’s Academic All-Canadian Commendation for the 2014-2015 season to eight recipients during a ceremony at Rideau Hall

Austin Kennedy plays football and studies Finance (minor in Psychology) at the University of Windsor.

Sasha Gollish does track & field and is doing a PHD in Civil Engineering at the University of Toronto.

François Bourque plays basketball and studies Accounting at McGill University.

Katia Forcier plays volleyball and studies Audiology at the Université de Montréal.

Cole Grbavac plays hockey and studies Accounting (minor in Economics)at St. Francis Xavier.

Katie Ross plays soccer and basketball and studies Kinesiology at Acadia University.

"Student-athletes have accomplished so much because they long ago realized that these two worlds are not exclusive, but can reinforce each other and can help them succeed," said His Excellency.

"We are honouring eight splendid examples of how academics and sports fit together perfectly," said His Excellency.

The Governor General’s Academic All-Canadian Commendation recognizes student-athletes who have maintained an average of 80 per cent or higher over the academic year while playing on one or more of their university’s varsity teams.

Andrew Buckley plays football and studies Kinesiology at the University of Calgary.
