Rideau Hall Movie Night - English Screening

The film's story follows the residents of Tickle Head in their bid to convince a doctor that their sleepy harbour is a paradise tailor-made just for him.

"I love Canadian films and what they say about our people and our country," said the Governor General. "I admire Canadian filmmakers for their art and for sharing their stories, which helps us come to know ourselves as Canadians—showing us who we are. And I am moved to see such enthusiastic support among so many for Canada’s art excellence."

More than a thousand moviegoers attended the event.

Tom McSorley (left), film-critic and Executive Director of the Canadian Film Institute, spoke with Don McKellar (right), director of The Grand Seduction, about his filmmaking process and how the film’s story was taken to Newfoundland and Labrador.

Members of the public brought their blankets and settled in under the stars.

The Governor General was pleased to invite members of the public to join him for the first-ever Rideau Hall Movie Night, featuring outdoor screenings of great Canadian films.
