CHEO Teddy Bears’ Picnic
His Excellency took the opportunity to thank all volunteers for their outstanding work and dedication. He also joined on stage Mrs. Suzanne Pinel, C.M., Honorary Chair of the CHEO Teddy Bear Picnic, to read a story to children.

On June 21, 2014, His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, hosted the Annual Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) Teddy Bears’ Picnic at Rideau Hall. The grounds were transformed into a playground for this family-friendly event.

The day kicked off at 8 a.m. with a celebrity pancake breakfast.

He also paid a visit to Canadian Armed Forces members who offered First aid lessons to visitors.

The Governor General met with volunteers under the B*A*S*H tent— Bear Ambulatory Surgical Hospital— where children bring their teddy bears and other stuffed animals for check-ups and minor repairs.

Once again, Canadian Olympians were back on the grounds to share their experiences as part of International Olympic Day (June 23, 2014). His Excellency participated in a taekwondo demonstration.
