Bell Let's Talk Day

On the occasion of Bell Let’s Talk Day, Her Excellency met with the members of the Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Team, a client-centered mental health program offered by the Hawkesbury and District General Hospital (HGH) in the Prescott-Russell region. As an intervener for the day, she was briefed about the services and programs ACT provides to surrounding rural communities, as well as the profile of its clientele and the different challenges it faces.

On behalf of the team, Marie-Anne Levac, ACT Team Peer Support (left), and Dr. Suzanne Filion, Director of Mental Health and Addictions Services at the HGH (middle), presented Her Excellency with an honorary certificate for her continued support of mental health issues and initiatives.

In the afternoon, His Excellency visited the Canadian Forces Health Services Centre in Ottawa. Upon his arrival, he was greeted by Canadian Armed Forces and Montfort Hospital representatives.

While there, he was briefed on the Surgeon General’s Mental Health Strategy by Major Paul Sedge, and learned about overall support offered to Canadian Armed Forces members suffering from mental illnesses and how this support will evolve in the coming years.
