Academic All-Canadian Commendation 2013-2014

Mr. Pierre Lafontaine, CEO of Canadian Interuniversity Sport, delivered also delivered an address. CIS is the national governing body of university sport in Canada. Every year, 11 500 student-athletes and 700 coaches from 56 universities and four regional associations vie for 21 national championships in 12 different sports.

Adrian Robertson plays hockey and studies Business Administration at the University of New Brunswick. The Governor General’s Academic All-Canadian Commendation recognizes student-athletes who have maintained an average of 80 per cent or higher over the academic year while playing on one or more of their university’s varsity teams.

Michelle Pryde plays soccer and studies Chemistry at Acadia University. Each year, over 2 800 CIS student-athletes achieve an academic average of 80 per cent or higher, demonstrating their commitment to success in the classroom as well as on the playing field.

Cédric McNicoll plays hockey and studies Accounting at McGill University. These recipients represent the best and brightest, having achieved outstanding academic success while representing their university on varsity teams.

Mariam Sylla plays basketball and studies Pharmacology at McGill University.

Caroline Ehrhardt is a Track and Field athlete and studies in Health Sciences at Western University.

Brittany Habing plays volleyball and studies Science at University of Manitoba.

The Governor General will present the Governor General’s Academic All-Canadian Commendation for the 2013-2014 season to eight recipients during a ceremony at Rideau Hall.
